A few weeks ago we looked at the Pioneer Plaza Cattle Drive Bronze Statues in Dallas, Texas. For this post we will get a little closer to the real thing by visiting the Historic Stockyards in Fort Worth. Twice a day they have a cattle drive along the main street through the stockyards. This part of the drive does not offer great opportunities for capturing images without the trappings of modern life in the background. However, if you follow the drive after they leave the main thoroughfare, they pass along a raised pathway and then cut across the end of the car park to return the longhorns to their pens. It is here that the best opportunities for some almost historic looking shots are.

The Fort Worth Herd is driven through the Historic Stockyards twice a day at 11:30 am and 4:00 pm. The recommended viewing location per their web-site is outside the visitors center. As soon as the last of the herd has passed you should have ample time to move across the street and through the car park to set yourself up for the better shots.

I like your choice of making these B&W. I think it works extremely well. Super shots.

Great shots, Mark. I agree with Edith, the monochrome works perfectly for these images.

Like Edith and Mark above, I too think that these mono shots work really well for this subject. Maybe it’s the old west fan in me, but this was definitely the correct choice for the subject matter. Well done, man.
