As mentioned in my previous post about the Sunbow from Hurricane Sandy, I spent last Saturday looking for what was left of the fall colors before the big storm hit the Mid-Atlantic and points north. Admittedly a lot of the color had already gone from the trees but persistence does pay off as the two images in this post show. The light was diffused by the cirrus clouds on the outer bands of the hurricane producing an interesting light which really enhanced the foliage. Most of the trees in the wooded areas had lost their leaves but, fortunately, some of the big signature sugar maples and oaks were trying desperately to hang on to their color as long as possible.

As I am writing this we are awaiting the arrival of Hurricane Sandy but by the time you read this the storm will have made landfall and be reeking havoc on the Mid-Atlantic and North East. Our thoughts are with all who are in the path of the storm and hope that everyone is OK.

Great colors, Mark. Where I live, fall isn’t much as far as color since it doesn’t get cold enough. So, I’m enjoying what everyone else is posting. Nice one.
