Pinkney Street

Pinkney Street is a narrow residential street in Annapolis, Maryland.  It runs North West from the town’s dock at the bottom of Main Street to East Street  All of the houses on the street have raised front doors due to the flooding which can occur especially when hurricanes drive the waters up the Chesapeake Bay.

The road is little over 100 yards long with maybe 25 houses on it.  However, the owner’s individuality, as displayed by the amazingly colorful decors, definitely make this a must see for anyone visiting Annapolis.  All three of these images were made in less than 10 minutes.

This third image was actually the first one I made.  It was the brass plaque which first caught my eye.  Throughout Annapolis there are blue historic markers on the buildings (see the second image above) but here was something different.  This was a simple residential building where nothing historic had ever happened and the owner was going to make sure everyone knew it.  The brass plaque reads ” On this site in 1897 nothing happened”!
