Liberty Furnace Mill is a few miles down the road from Andrew Zirkle Mill which we visited in the last post. This building is neither old nor was it actually a mill. Constructed in 1957, this is a hydro generator, generating electricity as the water from the falls seen in this image drives the waterwheel. The building is on private property and is not open to the public. However, as can be seen from this image, a good view is available from Virginia Route 717, Liberty Furnace Road.
Although this building does not have the history of the Andrew Zirkle Mill, I decided to produce a tinted monochrome image to give the impression that this mill could have been built long before it actually was. Below is the scan from the original transparency for comparison.

The monochrome image definitely gives the impression of an older building. Nicely done Mark.
