Maybe Spring Is Here At Last

I was going to be optimistic and just call this post Spring Is Here At Last but having been caught out a couple of times so far this year I decided to add the “Maybe”.   Here in the Mid-Atlantic we have had at least two false dawns as far as spring goes where temperatures have been at or above normal for late March and thoughts turn to spring, warmer weather and the fresh bright colors that natures brings with it.  BUT as I write this brief post (Sunday March 30) it is once again snowing.  We have, though, been promised with much warmer temperatures for the rest of the week, which means that by the time you are reading this Spring may actually be winning the weather battle.

This image was actually captured when spring gives way to summer but as I was looking through my archives the bright colors of the flowers jumped out at me.  It was taken many years ago (it is a scan of a transparency) on the grounds of the Château D’Ussé in the Loire Valley in France.  You can see other images from the Loire Valley here.

  1. Here’s hoping. The blossom is coming out, the flowers are coming into bloom. But today we have heavy pollution. Static high pressure with little or no wind, Pollution drifting in from the near continent, and wind-born dust from the Sahara. A toxic mix, we are told. Well at least we don’t have snow!

    • Wow! I say this in the Telegraph, which I still to this day read on-line. They were saying that people susceptible to respiratory problems should stay indoors. I think I’ll stop complaining about snow and cold weather. Hope this does not last long, Andy.

  2. Very nice image, Mark. Just what we need about now.

I think we may have finally tuned the page on Winter in our neck of the woods. Having said that, we did have a light dusting this past Sunday. LOL

Anyhow, let’s look forward, the cold will lose out to warmer weather soon for sure.
