Point Udall is the eastern-most point on the island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. At 17°45′20″ North and 64°33′55″ East it is, in fact, the easternmost point (by travel, not longitude) in the United States including territories and insular areas (An insular area is a United States territory that is neither a part of one of the 50 U.S. states nor the District of Columbia). It was named for Stewart Udall, United States Secretary of the Interior under Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson.

These images show the Point Udall Millennium Monument, a large sundial which was built for the New Year’s celebration in 2000 on the eastern-most point in the United States — it marks the azimuth of the first U.S. sunrise of that year.
