Most of the barns I have seen are either red or left unpainted. There are also quite a few white ones. I have also seen a group painted green. This, though, is the first one that I have ever seen in this unusual color. This yellow barn with its random stone wall for the first floor and white trim was found not far outside Leesburg in Loudoun County in Northern Virginia. As you can see from this image, it has been well looked after including what appears to be a new roof. The house behind looks to be historic but I have not been able to discover anything about it.
We found this barn as we were heading to see La Grange historic farm and its winery. One of the great advantages with living in Virginia, and Northern Virginia in particular, is the wealth of historic sites, both famous and completely unknown, which can be found in the area. All it takes is to get off the beaten track, drive a little slower and keep your eyes open. You never know what you may find.
