Continuing our look at the architectural details of the Ca’ d’Zan Mansion at the Ringling Museum in Sarasota, Florida (see first post of the colored glass door and second post of the Belvedere Tower). Both of these images were made on the large bayfront terrace overlooking Sarasota Bay which the Ringlings deemed to be their equivalent of the Grand Canal in Venice.
These two images show some more of the detailed embellishments found throughout the mansion. The first shot shows the entrance to the Breakfast Room which is one of the areas on a self-guided tour of the ground floor of the mansion. This view shows both the intricate details of the Venetian Gothic architecture as well as the colored glass of the door and windows.
The second image is of the one of the lower windows which are situated below some of the large colored glass paneled windows. Even here, the attention to detail is amazing. Each of these windows has the fretwork overlay as well as the tile edging.

The John Ringling Estate as the mansion and surrounding grounds are known is included as part of the Caples–Ringling Estates Historic District which also includes the Charles Ringling Estate and the Ralph Caples Estate, all of which are located next door to one another along Bayshore Drive in Sarasota. The Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in December 1982. Both the Charles Ringling Estate and the Ralph Caples Estate are now part of the campus of New College of Florida.

We will continue our tour of the Ca’ d’Zan Mansion in the next post with a look at an external corridor leading to wooden door to understand the level of wonderful details included throughout.
