On the way to the Grapevine Vintage Railroad we were invited into a blacksmith shop which was alongside the station in Grapevine, TX. Although the forge had not been fired up that day, the shop proved to be a wonderland for the photographer. Here we see the forge and the spectacular sign created by the blacksmith. The intricate work on the sign was a perfect advertisement, showing the skill of the blacksmith.

Both these images were finished using two of my own presets in Perfect Effects 9 from On-One Software with a mask applied in Photoshop. These easy to create presets both began life as one of the presets provided by On-One. The background is an adaptation of an antique look called Hipster. The sign and forge are finished using a preset I originally created for a series of HDR images of St. Joseph’s Church in the Los Cerrillos Ghost Town in New Mexico. If you click on the link to the church image you will see how different it is from these two shots. All I can say is never delete a preset as you never know when it might provide the answer you’re looking for to create that perfect finish to a photo.
